Generally old style letters/cards are gonna mean more than electronic ones, because:
1. It takes far more effort to send a real card than an electronic one, and peopel appreciate that
2. For most peopel getting a personal letter/card is a fairly special occurence, while getting an e-mail happens several times a day
3. People like receiving physical things over abstract (i.e. electronic) things, there's something special about knowing you're touching the thing. Maybe the thought that the sender has touched it as well or something…
